For those homeowners who have moved to the Coastal Carolinas from our more Northern states, there is a very large difference in the soil conditions as well as the type of sod that is laid at closing. For this area, Centipede sod is used, so don’t be alarmed when your yard turns brown in the winter-Centipede is dormant at this time. Also, do not over-fertilize in the winter. For more information, Clemson University has an excellent website that is very thorough and helpful.
